The star who was forgotten.
I came across a beautiful photo of an old Hollywood starlet. Kay Francis is her name. She was Warner Brothers studio biggest female movie star in the 1930's. But after only about five years another woman came along at Warner, Betty Davis. I think that says it all. I just wanted to shine a little light on Kay as a tribute to a woman who was a big part in the history of film.

Santa Clause
I have always seen Santa Clause reading his gift list. But I had another idea, to see him how he is before bed. I did not know what I would have him read. In the end it seemed natural to me that it would be the Bible.
The next one is the usual where he is checking his list. I was tired when I started drawing this. It just started out as a doodle.
I have to say that when I sketched these two I was thinking of Norman Rockwell. His art is a great influence. He was able to create such a great mood with what he presented on the page. I can only wish to achieve a bit of what he was able to do.

Sports Fans!

In doing caricatures the most fun is trying to show who the person is. For me it is not just about the big head and little body. It should be something that when you see it and know the person being depicted you say "yep that's him/her!"
That happened especially with these two pieces. One a Dolphins fan and the other a die hard Steelers fan. When I know someone is a fan of a particular team my first thought is to always dress them in that uniform. It makes it more enjoyable for the person to see themselves in there favorite colors. I had a lot of fun with these two and I was really happy that the subjects themselves liked them as well. When they see it and that big smile comes across there faces it makes it all worth it. To share the gift I have been given and know that it pleases them.
